In 1996, Morningside and the Chinese Academy of Science established the Chinese Academy of Science - Morningside Center for Mathematics. Prof. Shing-tung Yau, winner of a Fields Medal and a professor at Harvard University, has been the chairman of the Center’s academic committee since its inception. The Center seeks to develop young Chinese mathematicians by giving them exposure to world-class mathematicians who stay at the Center to provide guidance for their research.
